Bold invitation: Asterix & Obelix: The Big Fight deserves a front-row moment, and here’s your chance to catch it in Los Angeles with fellow fans. But here’s where it gets controversial: can a fresh Netflix interpretation honor the classics while forging its own path? This screening and discussion lineup aims to answer that question in real time.
Original content and context:
A Cartoon Brew invite announces a free LA screening of Netflix’s five-time Annie-nominated series Asterix & Obelix: The Big Fight, followed by a Q&A and reception. The series adapts René Goscinny and Albert Uderzo’s iconic French comics, placing Rome’s bid to subdue Gaul’s last independent village against a twist: the Gauls’ magic potion—long the source of their superhuman strength—vanishes when the village’s potion master loses his memory. With no potion, Asterix, Obelix, and their neighbors must rely on wits, teamwork, and stubborn resolve to defend their homeland. Directed by Alain Chabat, co-directed by Fabrice Joubert, and produced by TAT Productions, the project presents a fresh animated take on the beloved franchise.
