Unveiling the Truth: Alleged Scholarship-for-Sale Scheme in Ghana
The Shocking Allegations:
The former CEO of the National Entrepreneurship and Innovation Programme (NEIP), Kofi Ofosu Nkansah, has made explosive claims that have sent shockwaves through Ghana's political landscape. In a recent interview, Nkansah alleged that scholarships are being sold for substantial amounts, with some costing as much as GH¢100,000 or more. But here's where it gets controversial... he claims these transactions involve members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
The Investigation Unveils:
Dzifa Gunu, CEO of Ghana Digital Centres Limited (GDCL), has provided details of an investigation into these allegations. According to Gunu, Nkansah submitted WhatsApp chats to the National Intelligence Bureau (NIB) as evidence. These chats allegedly revealed a trail of scholarship-related documents retrieved from Nkansah's residence.
The Documents:
The NIB operatives found five scholarship award letters and one 'No Objection' letter on the Ghana Scholarship Secretariat (GSS) letterhead, all signed by the former Registrar, Dr. Kingsley Agyeman. These letters were addressed to various universities in the UK and dated between October 8, 2024, and December 31, 2024. Additionally, four 'Affidavits of Financial Support with Dependents' forms from the University of Memphis, USA, and four bond forms from the GSS were discovered.
The Alleged Seller:
Kofi Ofosu Nkansah, the former NEIP CEO, has been accused of knowing individuals who have purchased scholarships. He claims that some NPP members have bought scholarships to travel abroad, even though he doesn't specify the exact amounts involved. Nkansah also stated that he doesn't know whether these scholarships are sold through the GSS, GETFund, or any other state institution.
The Emotional Testimony:
In a tearful moment, Flowerpot developer broke down on camera, adding an emotional layer to the story. But is this a cry for justice or something more? The public is left to ponder.
