"It's a full-circle moment," Misner shared, reflecting on his journey. "I'm familiar with everything here, and it feels like home."
Misner's story began almost a decade ago when the Royals drafted him in 2016. However, he chose to attend the University of Missouri on a baseball scholarship, a decision that paid off.
"It was a difficult choice," Misner admitted. "But I'm glad I went to school."
His hard work paid dividends. Misner became a 2017 Freshman All-American and set career records during his junior season. This talent didn't go unnoticed, and he was drafted again, this time by the Miami Marlins in the first round of the 2019 draft.
Fast forward to the present, and Misner is back where it all started. He made his MLB debut with the Tampa Bay Rays, but now he has a chance to play for the Royals, his hometown team.
"I take a lot of pride in defense," Misner said, highlighting his strengths. "Defense is about the team, not just the individual."
Misner's versatility and offensive potential have impressed the Royals. They plan to utilize him in all three outfield spots, and with some Royals participating in the 2026 World Baseball Classic, he'll have opportunities to shine.
"I'm just here to play and do whatever the team needs," Misner said, showcasing his team-first attitude.
The Royals are known for utilizing their entire roster, so Misner's chances of playing at Kauffman Stadium this season are high. He's grateful for the opportunity and excited to be back in the locker room.
But here's where it gets controversial: With a strong outfield mix already in place, will Misner make the opening day roster? Or will he start in Triple-A Omaha? Only time will tell.
